Vehicle Description This 1938 Studebaker State Commander is offered on consignment with a clean MA title. It is a right-hand-drive convertible sedan that was delivered new to its first owner in New Zealand. It was imported to the US by collector Lawrence E. Warner in the 1980s and underwent a refurbishment before it earned an Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) National First Place award in 1993. It was purchased by the current owner and placed into his Studebaker collection in 2006. Further refurbishment work performed in 2010 included a repaint in the original Tulip yellow and the installation of replacement dark green leather upholstery. Power comes from a 226ci inline-six paired with a three-speed manual transmission with overdrive, and equipment includes hydraulic drum brakes, a hill-holder system, cathedral-style headlights, amber-lens driving lamps, turn signals, detachable B-pillars, rear-hinged rear doors, and a tan soft top. Inside, amenities include a Studebaker-Philco AM radio, a heater, and rear ashtrays. |
